MAG inks deal with Warner

Warner Chappell Music has signed a global publishing deal with fledgling producer MAG (real name: Marcos Borrero), Billboard learned this week. MAG, short for “gorgeous,” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Producers chart (dated December 12), thanks to seven production credits on Bad Bunny’s The last round the world, including “You Moved In”, “I Dress Like This”, “Making You Love Me”, “I Wish You The Best”, “Booker T”, “Damn Poverty” and “The Drug”. He also produced “Trellas” and “Before It Ends”.

“MAG is an incredible talent and exactly the type of producer that we are looking to add to the mix,” said Ryan Press, President of A&R Warner Chappell Music for the United States, in a statement. “Her work with Bad Bunny broke cultural barriers and opened so many new doors for her. We have great things in store already to help it raise its profile even further and we can’t wait to get started.

Raised in Brooklyn but residing in Los Angeles, the half-Puerto Rican, half-Dominican producer has been in the business for over 10 years and has previously worked with Nicky Jam and Rauw Alejandro.

I look forward to continuing to work hard for my clients and grow alongside so many talented people.

Molusco and LaMusica APP join forces

The exclusive content will be shared through the strategic alliance between MoluscoTV and La Música App. For Molusco, teaming up with LaMusica, which is followed by many Hispanics in the United States, Puerto Rico and other parts of the world, is a great opportunity. “It strengthens us even more in the communications field and in the entertainment world,” he said in a statement.

Cuban artists sign to Planet Records

Planet Records signed an exclusive deal with Cuban reggaeton duo El Kimiko & Yordy, consisting of Osniel Andres Cobarrubia Alfonso and Yordano Ulacia Creagh in 2019. “I love working with them,” said Roberto Ferrante, CEO of Planet Records, in a press release. “From the start they have produced high quality music and the audience supports them overwhelmingly. Our main goal will be to take the Cuban urban movement to the top.

El Kimiko & Yordy went viral with their debut single “Cambia Tu” in December 2020. With their single “Tengo un Pila” they won the popularity award at the Premios Lucas de Cuba. As part of the new deal with Planet Records, the duo will release their debut album, The Pa’Rato, which includes collaborations with El Micha, Lenier and other artists.
