It has been clear for some time that smartphone manufacturers do not care about the venerable 3.5mm headphone jack. The iPhone dropped out in 2016, gradually followed by other flagship phones. In some ways, that makes sense; the removal of the headphone jack gives way to a bigger battery or new components, and the world has now switched to Bluetooth, anyway, no? On the other hand, ugh.
The 3.5mm headphone connector offers one of the few truly universal standards. You can take just about any helmet with wire. Tune in. Listen. No need to worry about whether it's Lightning or USB-C, or whether connectivity will come and go. There are obviously times when Bluetooth is better. But it's good to have at least the option.
