Gina Marie Krasley died at her Tuckerton, New Jersey home on August 1 while “surrounded by her loving family,” her obituary revealed.
Her death comes just weeks after Gina opened up about her struggle with an unidentified illness that had left her unable to move, battling severe pain in her legs and numbness in her fingers.
According to AceShowbiz, Gina shared her struggles in a social media video, in which she revealed she was receiving medical care at home and was due to meet with a neurologist on July 29 – two days before her death.
Tragedy: Former My 600lb Life star Gina Marie Krasley has died aged 30, her family revealed in an obituary, just weeks after revealing she was battling a mysterious illness
It is not known if she went ahead with her neurology appointment, and Gina’s obituary revealed no further details of her passing – instead focusing on celebrating the life and passions of the former TLC star, especially her love for making TikTok videos.
“Born in Galloway, NJ, Gina is a longtime Ocean County resident, living in Forked River, Barnegat and Tuckerton for 6 years,” the obituary begins.
The former TLC reality star appeared on the show’s eighth season in January 2020 and while she was only seen losing just over 50 pounds in the episode, she revealed more late on social media that she had lost over 200 pounds.
“Her biggest passion was dancing and she invented dances with her sister and her neighborhood kids growing up. She started the TikTok trend “dance has no size limit” and dreamed of one day opening a dance studio for children with special needs.
“Gina once appeared in a movie when she was younger called Walking to the Waterline and she loved playing video games and spending time with her family.”
Following Gina’s death, her social media accounts were made private.
The obituary made no mention of Gina’s appearance on the TLC weight loss show, in which she documented her struggle to lose weight after a long battle with obesity.
During her appearance in an episode of season eight of the series, Gina enlisted the help of bariatric doctor Younan Nowzaradan.
During the show, Gina explained that she struggled with feelings of neglect and abandonment as a child, explaining that she turned to food as a source of comfort.
“My life has been difficult,” she said in the January 2020 episode. “The first thing I remember is that my older sister Ali was diagnosed with agoraphobia when I was seven and she was 11.
On the show, Gina discussed how feelings of “abandonment” as a child caused her to turn to food for comfort, with the reality star revealing at the time that she weighed in over 600 pounds.

“I felt like my mom’s full attention was on my sister, so I always felt like I was being pushed under the rug all my life. So it was a very difficult time in my life and I got really jealous of my sister.
“I remember that what made me forget the pain of being abandoned was eating. And by the time I was ten, I already weighed over 150 pounds.
Gina revealed that she was regularly tormented by bullies due to her weight, admitting that she had started to “act” on it – which led her father to physically “abuse” her as “punishment”.
By the time Gina reached the age of 14, she weighed over 300 pounds and her weight continued to spiral out of control as she constantly turned to food as an “escape” over the next few years, until that she ended up tipping the scales at over 600 pounds.
“As I got closer to 500 pounds, it started to get harder to do things,” she revealed.
The show also saw Gina and his wife Beth talk about their romance, the first revealing that they met through a dating app and got married a year later. However, Gina confessed that her weight had put a strain on their relationship, as his wife was forced to become his full-time caregiver.
During the show, Gina explained that she started to overeat when her older sister Ali was diagnosed with agoraphobia, which made her feel like she was ‘pushed under the rug’.
“I remember what made me forget the pain of being abandoned was eating,” she said. “And by the time I was ten, I already weighed over 150 lbs”
“As I put on weight and become almost still, it became Beth’s job to take care of me,” she shared.
During the show, Gina struggled to stick to the diet Dr. Nowzaradan gave her, and by the end of her episode, she had only managed to lose 51 pounds.
However, in the months after her episode aired, the TikTok star – who had over 200,000 subscribers on the app – told her fans that she had managed to lose another 150 pounds, revealing earlier that year she had tipped the scales at 379 pounds, according to Starcasm.
It was also revealed that Gina had stopped working with Dr Nowzaradan and joined several other former stars of the TLC reality series in suing the show’s production company, Megalomedia, for negligence during filming.
In her trial, Gina accused Megalomedia of causing her distress on set and failing to provide proper health services. She also claimed that she had been actively encouraged to eat by the producers in order to give the impression that she was deliberately ignoring the advice of her doctors.
