$ 799 M1 MacBook Air with 128GB storage for educational institutions spotted online

A new configuration of the MacBook Air M1 with 128 GB of storage and a lower price of $ 799 has today been spotted on the hardware and software price list of the American educational institution of Apple.

The M1 ‌MacBook Air‌ is only available with 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB or 2 TB of storage. There is currently no 128GB configuration in the Apple Store.

However, Reddit user “u / dduci97” noticed that Apple listed 13-inch “MacBook Air”: Apple M1 chip with 8-core processor and 7-core GPU, 8 GB, 128 GB “in silver, gold and gray. space on its Education Price List in the US priced at $ 799. Apple also has the option of purchasing this “MacBook Air” configuration in large quantities, as is the case with many other devices from the Education price list.

While Apple’s U.S. education store is yet to display a 128GB ‌MacBook Air‌, another Reddit user shared a screenshot of the educational institutions page showing the new setup.

It is not known if this lower cost “MacBook Air” configuration will ever be sold to the general public. Considering the reduction in education, it looks like a 128GB ‌MacBook Air‌ would cost the average consumer $ 899, making it the cheapest MacBook option in years.

Alternatively, the configuration may be reserved for education clients only. Apple has been known to reserve certain Mac models for education, such as the Intel Core i3 iMac, as well as older models such as the eMac and the “molar” Power Mac G3.
