9/11 families say Biden unwelcome at 20th anniversary memorial for refusing to release key documents

Nearly 2,000 people who were directly affected by 9/11 call on President Biden not to participate in any 20th anniversary ceremonies unless he declassifies government documents they say will implicate Saudi Arabia in the attacks terrorists.

“We cannot in good faith, and with reverence for the lost, sick and injured, welcome the president to our sacred lands until he fulfills his pledge,” nearly 1,800 first responders, families of those killed in the attacks, and the survivors wrote in a statement obtained by NBC News.

“Since the conclusion of the 9/11 Commission in 2004, a great deal of investigative evidence has been uncovered implicating Saudi government officials in supporting the attacks,” the statement said. “Across multiple jurisdictions, the Justice Department and the FBI have actively sought to keep this information secret and prevent the American people from learning the full truth about the 9/11 attacks.

9/11 GROUP REQUESTS A MEETING WITH BIDEN IN PUSH FOR THE RELEASE OF DOCUMENTS FROM SAUDI ARABIA

Among the documents sought by the group are findings relating to the FBI investigation that ended in 2016, which investigated Saudi links to the attacks.

Saudi Arabia has denied claims it was involved in the attacks.

The group says Biden made a pledge during the campaign cycle to be more transparent and release information, but his administration did not respond to requests from them during his inauguration.

THE FAMILIES OF THE VICTIMS OF 9/11 HAVE INDICATED BY THE MEDIA THAT THE CAPITOL RIOT WAS WORSE “TO SCORE POINTS POLITICALLY”

The three previous administrations since 2001 have denied disclosing the information based on national security concerns.

“Twenty years later, there is simply no reason – unsubstantiated claims of ‘national security’ or whatever – to keep this information secret,” the group wrote. “But if President Biden renounces his commitment and sides with the Saudi government, we would be compelled to publicly oppose any participation of his administration in any 9/11 commemoration ceremony.”
