WASHINGTON – Democrats in the House have summoned nine major banks to investigate President Trump's financial interests, according to sources close to the case, including six US companies and three foreign lenders.

The total number of lenders targeted by lawmakers has not been reported before, nor are most of their identities.

Investigators from the House Financial Services Committee and the House Intelligence Committee focused their initial efforts on Deutsche Bank, which stated that it committed to "productive dialogue" with committees.
