Investigators in Florida announced Saturday that they have found a 9-year-old Texas boy who has not been seen since the end of 2017.

Joshua Graham was found in Sanford with his father, Kenneth, while police were investigating the report of a suspicious vehicle around 6:30 am.

Investigators said Kenneth Graham, 52, had left Texas without telling his wife. They also stated that Kenneth Graham had already lived in Tallahassee, Florida, and they assumed that he was taking Joshua there.

Joshua's mother was given sole custody of the boy in February 2018 and Joshua was reported missing and reportedly "abducted by a non-custodial parent" last Tuesday.

"Whatever the circumstances, feelings of loss and devastation are indescribable when a child is removed from a parent," said Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith in a statement. "The officers and investigators involved in this case are delighted to have played an important role in reuniting this mother with her child after two long years, and I am proud that the officers who responded to this call soon realized that instinct has led to this happy conclusion. "

Joshua was placed in the custody of Child Protection Services while awaiting reunification with his mother. The Sanford police said that Kenneth Graham could be subject to criminal prosecution in Texas at a later date.
