LOS ANGELES – Disney General Manager Bob Iger on Thursday called on US politicians to reject hatred in the run-up to the 2020 elections – and claimed that Adolf Hitler would have "liked social media" as of a tool for spreading extremist propaganda.

"Hatred and anger lead us to an abyss," he said at a dinner hosted by the Simon Wiesenthal Center, a Jewish human rights organization. "Our politics, in particular, are now dominated by contempt".

"Hitler would have liked social media," he added. "It's the most powerful marketing tool that an extremist can hope for."

"At worst, social media allows evil to attack troubled minds and lost souls," he said.

With a fierce campaign for the 2020 US presidential election expected in the coming months, Iger also pointed out that it was "possible to enforce politics without attacking people."

"I want to hear a speech that is not based on the contempt of others," he said.

"I want to see a vision big enough to include everyone."
