Hulu announces that most of the live TV customers who canceled due to recent price increases have switched to demand

Today, Disney has announced plans for Hulu, now that Disney holds the majority of Hulu. Now that Disney has the ability to do just about anything they want, we now have our first update on Hulu since the merger between Fox and Disney.

Here's what we learned at the Disney's Hulu presentation:

The CEO of Hulu announced that a "large percentage" of customers who canceled Hulu with live TV had just switched to the less expensive on-demand option of $ 5.99 / month. It is now clear that the price increases for streaming services are encouraging subscribers to opt for cheaper options.

Disney also said it expects streaming will generate $ 50 billion a year in ads by 2022. This is because Hulu recently reduced the price of its ad-supported service at $ 5.99. Disney has again announced that Hulu now has 25 million subscribers. (2 million of these 25 million subscribers are customers under trial.) Hulu also experienced a 20% increase in the average number of hours per subscriber.

At present, Hulu has 85,000 television episodes on its on-demand services, not to mention the movies that can also be streamed on Hulu.
