The social media platforms Facebook, Whatsapp and Instagram, all of which belong to Facebook, would not work Sunday afternoon.
Whatsapp users around the world report that they can not send or receive messages, that Instagram users can not upload their stories or photos, and that Facebook has general 'interface.
All systems are running on Facebook servers that have experienced several outages in the last two months.
In March, Facebook crashed for two days, affecting both WhatsApp and Instagram. The connection to the network has proved impossible for all users. The BBC has described it as "the most serious failure in its history," noting that the last time Facebook was upset on such a scale was in 2008.
During the March crash, Facebook warned its users via Twitter that they "were working to solve the problem as quickly as possible". However, no such message has yet been released during the last crash.
