House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., Tries to do the same thing when it's representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, DN.Y., and her group of Socialists first year, celebrating or returning, depending on the audience.

In an interview broadcast Sunday night on "60 minutes," Pelosi called for downplaying the influence of Ocio-Cortez and its House allies. When asked how she could hold the House if the Democratic caucus was split between socialists and centrists, Pelosi said about the Ocasio-Cortez group, "It's like five people."

Addressing the wider national audience, she said: "Overall, regardless of the direction with which they came to Congress, they know we have to hold the center. That we must be – go to the general public. "

This is not the first time Pelosi has made comments that have made headlines about how she "casts shadow" on Ocasio-Cortez. Earlier this month, Mr Pelosi said that a "large number of votes" was more important than a "large number of Twitter followers". In February, she referred to the Ocasio-Cortez Green New Deal initiative as "The Green Dream or What They Call It".

At other times, Pelosi tried to exploit the enthusiasm of the young group of freshmen, especially when it was aimed at a younger and more liberal audience. She emerged as a defender of anti-Semitic representative Ilhan Omar, even before the latest 9/11 controversy. She had to do it because she knows the power that the resurgent left has in her caucus.

And she also posed on the cover of Rolling Stone with Ocasio-Cortez, Omar and another freshman, Jahana Hayes, D-Conn, and celebrated the cover on Twitter.

Does Pelosi make the habit of doing national magazine coverage with insignificant and random members of Congress who represent only a small part of the Democratic Party, without much influence? Of course not. Pelosi tries to present the Democratic Party as a mainstream when it addresses a wider audience. However, she wishes to appease and surf the wave of energy brought by the left and the young left at the same time.
