Who has the most money in your pocket for the campaign? Who has spent about as much money as they have amassed? Who relied heavily on personal loans and past political accounts?
The Democratic presidential candidates presented Monday the first overview of the finances of the campaign. An early fundraiser is not a guarantee of voting in 2020, but it is a barometer of Democrats' interest – it is not an easy task in an overcrowded area.

We have analyzed the number of fundraisers for 16 Democrats, and the revelations below indicate how much money they can invest in staff and events organized in crucial states with early voting. Democrats in the rearguard are at a great disadvantage: their ability to run campaigns to keep the distance will be limited if they do not improve their fundraising.
Bernie Sanders and Kamala Harris collected the most money from individual donors.
Senator Bernie Sanders took part in the race with an extensive network of online contributors from her 2016 presidential bid. Senator Kamala Harris has also demonstrated her fundraising capacity, as well as former representative Beto O'Rourke, who raised a mountain of cash during his failed candidacy in the Senate last year.

Elizabeth Warren and Kirsten Gillibrand have transferred huge amounts of their campaigns to the Senate.
Several candidates completed their presidential fundraising by transferring funds raised during previous federal races. Legally, money can only be transferred from federal campaigns, giving members of Congress an advantage over mayors or governors candidates, or those who have never exercised a federal mandate. Candidates can also contribute themselves.

Note: Sanders ended the quarter with approximately $ 11 million to transfer, his campaign said. The amount of the transfer of the Tulsi Gabbard representative excludes a redundant transaction performed for compliance reasons. Applicant contributions exclude amounts less than $ 10,000.
Sanders also has the most money in the bank.
The first application competitions will not take place until February 2020. Campaigns must therefore be able to pay their bills for several months to stay afloat. Cash on hand includes the loans of candidates and transfers from their previous committees.

Many Democratic candidates rely heavily on small donors.
Sanders is counting on small donations to fuel his presidential candidacy, as has Warren, who has vowed to hold very expensive fundraisers. Ms. Harris has a solid foundation of online donors, but she has also raised significant amounts from traditional donors. Some candidates, such as Ms. Gillibrand, Senator Cory Booker and former Governor John Hickenlooper, relied heavily on larger donations.

Warren has spent about as much as she has amassed.
The new spending data provides insight into how candidates prioritize their resources. Warren's substantial spending allowed her to quickly expand her campaign operation and deploy staff to key states like Iowa, but she spent almost as much money as she had raised donations.

President Trump's re-election campaign also featured a fundraiser. The campaign generated about $ 30 million in the first three months of 2019 – about as much as Sanders and Harris combined.

Mr. Trump has his own powerful base of small donors. The campaign said its average donation was $ 34.26.
The modest amount of online donations will also play a huge role in the Democratic primary race: many candidates rely heavily on local donors to finance their campaigns. The money of small donors is a source of pride because it shows that the candidates attract the support of ordinary citizens across the country.
