A video of Pete Buttigieg, hopeful at the Democrat-Democrat White House, addressing reporters in French fluently after the Notre-Dame fire on Monday.

A mayor of BFMTV questioned the mayor of South Bend, in Indiana, about a comment from the cathedral. He immediately turned to the camera and offered his condolences to the French people. The video was watched by nearly 3.24 million people on Tuesday afternoon.

"To the French, I would like to say that Notre Dame Cathedral is essentially a gift for humanity. We share our sorrow, but we are also grateful for [the French people’s] gift to civilization, "Buttigieg told reporters in French.

Buttigieg, who has built an intellectual personality that is often used by supporters to contrast with President Trump, claims that he speaks seven languages: Norwegian, Spanish, Italian, Maltese, Arabic, Dari and French .

According to the latest RealClearPolitics polls average, former vice president, Joe Biden, was leading the pack with 9.3 percentage points, reaching 31%. Buttigieg is currently in sixth place with 7% support. His numbers, however, tend to increase, with the latest Emerson poll released Sunday showing Buttigieg in third place with 9% support.
