Doucette has owned the car since his father gave it to him as a graduation gift in 1968. His father was already a Corvette enthusiast, fascinated by cars since the model's inception. When he bought the car for his son, it was kind of a gift for her to have the car.
Before the car made its way into the Doucette family, the original V8 was released and replaced by a 283-cubic-inch 303-inch engine with Duntov camshaft. It was also the subject of an amateur restoration that never closed the loop. It lacked some trim, hood and stone protectors for headlights.
