eSports!

Today, at the Inside Xbox conference (a concept that Sony has just signed up to, adding to existing Nintendo Direct presentations), Microsoft unveiled a new six-part documentary titled ELeague Gears Summer Series: Fraternity Links and Betrayals. It's actually a part of tournament, a part of drama; and will begin airing on TBS on June 14 at 11 pm ET.

The idea is to follow "six of the best known players in the world", to chronicle their stories and finish in style at Atlanta's Eleague Arena for the tournament. Microsoft promises to introduce players who have an "intense connection" to gears, with an "unprecedented look" on their passion.

It is interesting to note that part of the series will focus on the transition of subjects from Gears 4 in Gears 5, which could easily be the most fascinating part. Witnesses of pros going from match to match, having to equip new technologies and abandon old habits is one of the most unknown aspects of the electronic sports phenomenon. This feeling also applies to League of Legends and other MOBA patches that fundamentally disrupt things or completely change / rework characters, which could upset the meta so severely that it could be considered an entirely new game.

I guess what I'm saying is that I'm jazzy to watch Bonding and betrayal of fraternity. The more we know of the people who participate in eSports, the better.
