when changing her daughter's diaper into a vehicle in Vestavia Hills, Alabama, died, police said.

Timothy Roshun Smith was hit in the leg and chest and his daughter's daughter was injured in the leg. A pistol loaded in a diaper bag was launched Saturday in front of a Chuck E.

The 22-year-old man died Monday, said Captain Johnny Evans of the Vestavia Hills Police Department. The girl should recover completely, said Evans.

Smith was at the back of a vehicle Saturday in front of the pizza restaurant, changing the girl's diaper. The gun exploded while he was picking up or reaching for a changing bag on the floor, Evans said after the incident.

After the gun exploded, the bullet went through Smith's leg, then that of the child, before lodging in the man's chest, Evans said.

"It is a tragic accident and the condolences of the VHPD and the VHFD are going to the family involved," said the police department in a statement.
