BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) – A university student from upstate New York died as a result of a hint of hazing that resulted in the suspension of fraternity and sorority activities.

Buffalo University President Satish Tripathi said Sebastian Serafin-Bazan had died Wednesday. The 18-year-old Port Chester recruit was hospitalized early Friday after a hint of hazing in an off-campus home.

The details of the case concerning the Sigma Pi fraternity have not been revealed. Buffalo police captain Jeff Rinaldo said the police were investigating possible drug or alcohol use and waiting for the results of the autopsy.

Tripathi offered his condolences to the student's family and friends.

University officials say that an internal review is underway.
