Just days after Lori Loughlin pleaded not guilty to the university bribery swindle, the media suggests that one of her daughters could be the subject of a criminal investigation.
Loughlin and her husband-creator, Mossimo Giannulli, are each charged with conspiracy to commit postal fraud and conspiracy to launder money after allegedly paying $ 500,000 for each of their daughters who would be rowing recruits from the USC without being active in the sport. Each charge is punishable by up to 20 years imprisonment.
Isabella Giannulli, their 20-year-old eldest daughter, dropped her popular Instagram account on Wednesday night, as reports said she received a formal letter from prosecutors that could lead to charges.
the Daily mail reports that Loughlin's daughter received a letter of intent from the Massachusetts Attorneys General in early April as part of the ongoing investigation into Operation Varsity Blues. Last week, The Wall Street Journal also announced that several students had received "targeted letters" from federal investigators in cases where they could have been accomplices.
Several students whose parents are accused of buying or bribing officials to ensure that their child is admitted to the college have been suspended, but none have yet been charged with criminal charges.
the Daily mailquoting an anonymous source, reported that Loughlin's daughter had received a letter. "It's a not-so-veiled threat. [The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts] made it clear that they have evidence that strongly suggests that she was aware of the illegal conspiracy. "
Loughlin's youngest daughter, Olivia Jade, 19, who is involved in the event, still has a very popular Instagram account, although she has not posted anything since February 28th.
This week, the famous couple rejected a plea agreement that would have potentially prevented him from serving a prison sentence in exchange for a guilty plea. A Loughlin partner told CNN that she thought she should plead not guilty.
"Lori does not understand why she's getting so much criticism for pleading not guilty," the friend told CNN. "People do not have to realize that she had no choice. The plea agreement was removed from the table and this is the only way they were told that she and Mossimo could avoid jail time and get another plea. They hope that justice will prevail.
Felicity Huffman, one of 13 parents accused in the scandal, pleaded guilty this week along with several other relatives involved in the scandal.
