CLEVELAND, Ohio – Los Angeles, as the country's largest county, is almost the size of the Ohio population, with over 10.1 million residents, according to new estimates released Thursday by the Census Bureau for each county in the United States.
By comparison, just under 11.7 million people live in Ohio.
Last year, Los Angeles recorded an estimated loss of 13,241 inhabitants, to settle at 10,105,518, despite the fact that 35,000 residents were welcomed through international migration. This was not enough to offset the losses caused by people leaving the county.
Cook County (Chicago) ranks second at 5,180,493, followed by Harris County (Houston) at 4,698,619, Maricopa County (Phoenix) at 4,410,824 and San Diego County at 3,343,364.
