Freshman quarterback redshirt Matthew Baldwin published a statement of his intention to transfer from the state of Ohio.

All is below.

"I want to start by saying that I am grateful for my stay in Columbus and the relationships I have here at Ohio State.

"This spring has been a great time for me to finally get back on the ground after my ACL tear. It was really great to be in the mix of things and take pictures again. Being able to play in front of 75,000 of the biggest fans of the country was more than exciting. I loved getting to know Justin and competing with him was an amazing experience for me. I was really proud of what I did and I am excited about my progress.

"At the same time, spring was hard for me personally. My family and I prayed a lot and talked about my place and what is best for me. In the end, we think it would be better for me to leave the state of Ohio. I want everyone to know that it's not done by anger or frustration, but I'm not that a football player.

"I want to emphasize the love and respect that I have for all Ohio State coaching staff and my amazing teammates. I especially want to thank Coach Day for his guidance over the past year and for the belief he had in me from the beginning. He's an amazing coach and a great person. He will do incredible things at Ohio State. I also want to thank the strength coaches who work with us every day.

"Finally, I want to thank Adam Stewart and all the physiotherapy and training staff for helping me bounce back. Stew is the best in the business and has been such an important person in my life this year. I will never forget what he did for me in a very difficult time.

"Thank you to Buckeye Nation for all your memories and support. I appreciate what this experience has taught me and consider my stay here as a blessing. I look forward to my next step in life and wish the best to each one of you. "
