Nintendo fans try to discover a mysterious character from Retro Studios

Retro Studios has handed Nintendo of America's former president, Reggie Fils-Amie, a signed drawing of him posing with various retro game characters, but a small mechanical hand in the photo launches a lot of fans for a loop.

The picture, accompanied by a Virtual Boy, a name-taking notebook, a plastic ass to kick and more, were given to Son-Friend at the # 39, an event for retirees, and the legend of Nintendo decided to tweet out pictures of these gifts yesterday.

GameXplain people and Reset Era fans have noticed a mechanical hand in the photo, which can be seen behind the small statue of Mario in front of the photo. Theories began to fly.

Above the hand (to the left of Mario's arm), there seems to be what some describe as an ear with a helmet portion on top. It could very well be part of the barrel and arm elbow of Samus, but the color is slightly off-set and does not follow the typical design of his Varia suit. Considering the precise placement of the statue of Mario, some fans think that Fils-Amie staged the photo as part of an elaborate tease.

Because Retro Studios only developed the Metroid Prime and Donkey Kong Country games (with the exception of the studio's support on Mario Kart 7), some fans think that it is a character from a another franchise of Nintendo or that it is associated with a new IP novel of Retro Studios. To fuel this fire, Enrique Rivera, conceptual artist at Retro, retweeted Reggie's message with a sparkling face, suggesting that there is really a tease on the photo. According to her LinkedIn page, Rivera has been working at Retro for almost four years.

The assumptions about who owns this hand are logical to hilarious. Many think it sounds like a Teleroboxer robot, one of the 22 games that have graced the Virtual Boy. Others think it's a character from the famous Star Fox Grand Prix racing game. Some people think that this is related to the project H.A.M.M.E.R. canceled, even if Retro has never been associated with this title.

Anyway, we know that at least a part of Retro contributes to the development of Metroid Prime 4 for Nintendo Switch after restarting its production in a separate studio.
