A driver deliberately entered the crowd in northern California on Tuesday night, injuring eight people, police said.

The incident occurred in Sunnyvale, southeast of San Francisco. The victims – including a 13-year-old boy – were rushed to hospital with unknown injuries, reported ABC 7 in San Francisco. Witnesses told the police that the driver, who had been arrested after crashing into a tree, showed no sign of an attempt to stop.
"Some statements show that the driver did not attempt to avoid pedestrians on the pedestrian crossing and that he did not attempt to turn around, leave or go break, "Captain Jim Choi of the Sunnyvale Public Security Ministry told the press. The victims included those on the sidewalk and in the pedestrian crossing.
The accident occurred at an intersection near the West Sunnyvale shopping center. The police would investigate a motive.
