October 31st in the east

During atlus Persona 5 concert, the publisher gave us more juicy information about the upcoming Persona 5 reissue, and it's surprisingly not just related to Japan. Okay, most of it is.

Atlus explained that Persona 5 The Royal will be launched on October 31 in the region and will include another member of the ghost robbers: Kasumi Yoshizawa. Atlus promises more information in May, and Atlus USA has confirmed that the Western edition will arrive by 2020. The Japanese landing page clarifies (thanks Nibel!) that this version supports 4K / Pro, new songs and new characters (in addition to Kasumi mentioned above).

While Persona 5 is a business of about 100 hours, almost everyone I'm in contact with would do it again (including myself!) with the original version, let alone an improved version Royal a. The implications for Royal are massive because people still play the reissues of the past Character games years after the facts. I can see myself digging my PS4 (or PS5, if backward compatibility claims are accurate) in 20 years to boot Persona 5 again. More SKU means more copies in nature and less chance that this fantastic game is lost in time.

Character is also probably in the best shape of its ever been. While the Persona 4 Golden era was resplendent indeed, the appearance of Joker in Super Smash Bros. is a huge win for Atlus, not to mention The royal or any number of rumors about Switch releases. I will never forget how confusing this series was when my cousin showed me his copy of the original. Now, it's practically an institution.
