EXCLUSIVE
R. KellyThe team of lawyers has another reason why the judge thinks the singer L in his recent civil case of sexual abuse should not count … he does not know how to read.
Kelly's lawyers, Zaid Abdallah and Raed Shalabi, filed legal documents, claiming that even though Kelly had been served in a civil case – in which Heather Williams alleges that he sexually assaulted her at the age of 16 – he was at Cook County Jail at the time of not paying child support and should not have been served there.
More importantly, however, according to the docs … Kelly "suffers from a learning disability that affects her ability to read," adding … "in essence, he can not."
Translation – Kelly had no idea of the nature of the legal documents. He therefore did not take appropriate action after serving his defense.
The new legal documents also explain the fact that Kelly was served while incarcerated, claiming that Williams' lawyers could easily have served Kelly's lawyer or hand over the documents to Tricks of trump Where he lives. Williams' attorney said that home security made this impossible, but Kelly's lawyer calls BS about it.
As we reported … Williams won a default judgment against Kelly when he did not appear for a hearing in the case.
Kelly's legal team is asking the court to rescind the decision … so that he can properly prepare his defense this time around.
