The Columbus Blue Jackets double-overtime victory over the Boston Bruins ended seven straight nights of playoff hockey, and we will not complain.

Here's a recap of last night's action (watch the reruns of each playoff match on ESPN +) and what to watch for tonight in today's edition. ESPN Stanley Cup Playoffs Daily:

About last night …

Game 2: Dallas Stars 4, St. Louis Blues 2 (tied series 1-1). This game was delusional towards the end of the first period when, in a 4-on-4 match, the teams regrouped to score three goals in two minutes. Ben Bishop is now 12 in his playoff career after the loss. Production beyond the first line for the Stars no longer seems a problem. Roope Hintz and Miro Heiskanen combined 10 goals (six goals and four assists) in eight games. Hintz's second line, with Mats Zuccarello and Jason Dickinson on the wings, was particularly successful. The Blues looked good in numerical dominance, but went 0-5. They also decided to keep Jordan Binnington in the net despite a difficult start, and he pulled himself together and finished with 34 saves.

Roope Hintz and Mattias Janmark both scored in the first period to lead the Stars to a 4-2 victory over the Blues.

Game 2: Columbus Blue Jackets 3, Boston Bruins 2 (2OT) (Round 1-1). For the second consecutive game, it had to be decided in overtime. The Blue Jackets struggled to be attacked early. The game was a little unstable, with some bloodshed, some turnovers and few shots. Tuukka Rask would make two great saves on Nick Foligno – one at the end of the settlement, one in overtime – keep the Bruins inside. Not to be outdone, Sergei Bobrovsky also made a series of spectacular stops, including hitting Patrice Bergeron on two occasions. Matt Duchene was the hero of the power play overtime as the Blue Jackets eliminated the Bruins' advantage on the rink.

Three stars

1. Matt Duchene, C, Columbus Blue Jackets. Duchene's fourth goal in six playoff games. Double winner in overtime, enough said.

2. Roope Hintz, C, Dallas Stars. After recording a multi-goal game in the regular season (and a total of nine goals), the Finn now has two multi-goal playoff games and is tied for the team leader with a total of four goals.

3. Artemi Panarin, LW, Columbus Blue Jackets. Jarmo Kekalainen, managing director, seems smarter than having kept Panarin instead of trading it by the deadline; The Breadman became the first Blue Jacket player with four goals in one season with his tying goal at 8:03 of the second period, an absurd shot of a seemingly impossible angle.

Game of the night

This pass is a beauty.

Dud of the night

We praised Charlie Coyle as one of the best acquisitions in the timelines for trade this season, and he was generally terrific. But the turnaround that led to Panarin's second goal was criminal. You can not make blind return passes in your own playoff zone.

On the calendar

Carolina Hurricanes at the New York Islanders, second game, at 3 pm AND (the hurricane leads the series 1-0)

2 related

If you like tight and low-key playoffs, the first match is for you. Carolina is one of the most prominent teams in the playoffs at the present time. after losing the first two games against Washington, the Canes have now won five of their last six games. To win his house, New York will probably depend a lot Robin Lehner again. Lehner have conceded a single goal in each of their last four games, although the islands have had a 10-day sandwich stint.

Colorado Avalanche at the San Jose Sharks second game at 7:30 pm ET (sharks lead series 1-0)

In the first game, Avalanche could not follow the second San Jose report late in the game. Surprisingly, the Sharks had their legs after a series of emotionally and physically challenging opening rounds against the Golden Knights. It was a great night for Joe Thornton's line (five points). And do not look now, but Martin Jones had another good exit. The night was tough for defensemen Erik Johnson and Samuel Girard of Colorado, the latter coming back from injury.

Social position of the day

Not everyone agreed that Miro Heiskanen was in the top three of the Calder Trophy votes.

To note

Where Hamilton, the pig becomes Bark-Andre Fleury in 2019.
