The Commander-in-Chief continued to criticize Smollett, calling him "an actor whom no one has ever heard of" earlier this month at the National Republican Congress Committee.

Trump's remarks at his campaign stop coincided with this year's The White House Correspondents Dinner, which marked the President for the third time, missed the event by celebrating the history of journalism and the First Amendment.
