Beer injury at Braun and Cano mark first wild run

Ryan Braun, the Milwaukee Brewers Soldier, had a beer spilled on his head. Robinson Cano, the second baseman of the New York Mets, was hand-wounded by a Gio Gonzalez throw in a strange sequence in Sunday's first run.

Braun was attempting to leap forward against the left field wall during a long run led by rookie Mets Pete Alonso when a fan, in an apparent attempt to catch the ball in his cup, was leaned over the railing and spilled his beer on Braun's head.

While Braun was unable to win the match, Alonso was ranked third for a triple, which prompted Brewers and manager Craig Counsell to demonstrate. A video review, however, confirmed the decision on the ground.

Cano was injured on the next field, when he was tackled with his left hand without checking his momentum on a fastball from Brewers, Gonzalez.

The left-hander who hit Cano started to rock and fell open to first base as the ground headed for his chest. He connected to the outside of his left hand and Cano came out of the box and slammed his helmet before leaving the game.

Cano was judged as the referee Todd Tichenor. This is the second time this season that Cano is hit by a pitch while he is being called to a swinging shot.

The initial x-rays on Cano's hand were negative, said the Mets. He is ready for further testing on Monday after the swelling of the hand has fallen.

He was replaced by Juan Lagares with the 0-1 account. Lagares would continue to draw a walk.

Associated Press contributed to this report.
