Tesla increases its sponsorship program by 500% for a limited time

A little more than a month after the complete overhaul of its sponsorship program, Tesla is currently strengthening it by 500% for a limited time before the end of the quarter.

Earlier this year, Tesla ended its initial referral program citing concerns over cost after giving more than 80 new Roadsters.

Last month, the manufacturer decided to revive the program with a completely different structure, based on the free granting of boost miles and the chances of winning a Y model and a new Roadster.

Tesla started giving 1,000 miles of free boost to both the owner who gives the reference and the new buyer receiving the reference.

Today, the company has updated the program to give it a "boost of 500% overeating".

They wrote in the "Tasty Box" section of the Tesla app for homeowners:

"You and anyone using your reference code to buy a Tesla will receive 7,500 free kms of Supercharger! On May 28, it will come back to 1,500 km.

Each reference also gives you five chances to win a Founders Series Model Y supercar or Roadster! Tesla owners who already benefit from free overeating have a 10-chance win. "

Here's a screenshot of the updated section of the box in the Tesla app:

Tesla says the first model Y will take place "around May 1, 2019" and the first drawing on Roadster will follow "around July 1, 2019."

Electrek's Take

The big advantage of this version of Tesla's sponsorship program is that they can boost it in this way without significantly increasing costs.

Increasing the number of chances per referee does not change anything since the number of vehicles given is the same.

As for the miles of Supercharging, Tesla certainly has a cost, but it is quite minimal, especially since the credit is limited to 12 months and most Tesla owners do not use the Supercharger network as much.

On the other hand, it does not encourage homeowners to send a lot more people, but that might be enough for some.

Anyway, it seems that trying to increase orders by the end of the quarter, which would leave Tesla time to deliver most vehicles by the end of June.
