Networking is one of the most difficult aspects of integrating Android applications with Chrome OS. It took some time for Chrome OS-based VPNs to apply to Android apps, and even longer for the opposite to work. Fortunately, VPN support for applications running in a Linux container has now arrived.

Chrome OS 76 (currently in the Dev / Canary branch) finally allows Linux applications to work with the VPN used – whether from an Android application or a Chrome extension. As you can see in the screenshot below, the Gnome web browser on Linux is run via the Canada VPN server built by the ProtonVPN Android application.

I can not imagine the programming magic necessary for this to work, but it is good that Linux applications on Chrome OS are about to become fully functional. It only remains to wait for the final acceleration of sound and graphics.
