The picture above was only a concept when it was first seen in a video in 2018. It looks more than ever like a new generation of the The iconic Motorola Razr is definitely on the way, this time in the form of a foldable smartphone that looks a lot like these 2018 renderings.
Latest evidence: apparent remains have leaked from Motorola itself. See below.
The images seem to show an unfolded phone – exactly as predicted by patent plans – a folded phone and the other contents of a new generation device. The triangular box of Razr.
Phone Arena breaks down what we can look here:
As expected, the Motorola Razr (2019) leaves out the physical layout of the buttons and the small screen of the original, to the benefit of a modern 6.2 inch screen extending from top to bottom. Low thanks to its 22: 9 aspect ratio. Due to the unique shape of the smartphone and its form factor, the edge-to-edge panel is forced to adopt rather unique angles up and down. This does not help the large screen that is presented above and that houses an in-ear speaker.
To stay in step with the 2004 RAZR V3, the foldable edition sports a huge chin under the screen. But instead of staying flat with the screen as is common nowadays, the chin actually represents a rather large bulge that matches the thickness of the Motorola Razr when it is closed.
It looks like the box is coming – or will come – with a USB-C cable and a USB-C headset. It also looks like it's accompanied by a high speed charger and a 3.5mm adapter for headphone jack. If that's right, you can mark the new Razr as another smartphone that drops the classic port.
Even if this leak is the real deal, everything could change by the time the Razr arrives on store shelves. After all, as Samsung Fold has proven so embarrassingly that electronics manufacturers are still solving the problems with folding screens.
Hopefully waiting for the latest Razr form, which could cost up to $ 1,500, will be worth it.
