NFL Draft 2019: Where did former students of New Jersey high school football land? From Round 1 to UDFA, we're here for you

For the third year in a row, New Jersey was well represented at the top of the NFL Draft.

After winning three first-round selections in 2017 (Haason Reddick, Jabrill Peppers and David Njoku) and two in 2018 (Quenton Nelson, Minkah Fitzpatrick), another pair of former high school football stars from NJ have been selected for the first round of the NFL 2019.

A total of eight players were selected by NFL teams playing high school football at Garden State.

In addition, NJ Advance Media followed all those who did not hear their name called between Thursday and Saturday, but who signed with NFL teams as free agents.

Josh Allen, Kentucky, OLB (Montclair)

Selected: 1st inning, 7th of Jacksonville Jaguars

How did he get hereAllen was named Defensive Player of the Year SEC in 2018 and won the Bednarik Award, awarded to the best defensive player in college football. In four years with Kentucky, Allen has accumulated 224 tackles (41 for a loss), 31.5 sacks (17 last season), 15 quick throws, 11 forced fumbles, eight break-offs and two fumble recoveries.

Rashan Gary, Michigan, DE (Catholic Paramus)

Selected: Round 1, 12th overall by Green Bay Packers

How did he get here: Gary, a two-time defensive player of the year on NJ.com, has been selected twice in the All-Big Ten standings and ended his three-year career at Ann Arbor with 137 tackles (24 for a defeat) and 10.5 sacks.

RyQuell Armstead, Temple, RB (Millville)

Selected: 5th and 140th overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars

How did he get here: From 2015 to 18, Armstead has accumulated 2812 yards and 34 touchdowns. In his senior season, Armstead scored 210 times, for 1,098 and 13 touchdowns, averaging 109.8 yards per game.

What he says: "Just be able to play behind [Leonard] Fournette and her brain and just being able to compete is going to be great. I bring everything to the table, I am a great indoor runner and a guy who can also hit the home run. "

Saquan Hampton, Rutgers, S (Nottingham)

Selected: Round 6, 177th overall by the New Orleans Saints

How did he get here: He was the most valuable Rutgers player in 2018 and had a successful career at Piscataway despite injuries in his second and third seasons. Still, he finished with 177 career tackles, five interceptions and 24 shatters. His 3-INT season in 2018 earned him the Honorable Mention All-Big Ten.

What he says: "I think it will be a big competition [after New Orleans took two safeties in this draft], entering and competing. It's something I like doing, something I've done all my life. This will be a great opportunity to link the class that comes in. Juwann Winfree, Colorado, WR (Dwight Morrow)

Selected: Round 6, 187th overall by the Denver Broncos

How did he get hereWinfree began his university career in Maryland before being indefinitely suspended in June 2015. He left school shortly after and resurfaced in Colorado two years later. With Colorado, from 2017-18, the 6-3 lift has recorded 49 catches for 649 yards and four touchdowns.

Kelvin Harmon, State N.C., WR (Palmyra)

Selected: Round 6, 206th overall by the Washington Redskins

How did he get here: Harmon started strong in North America. Declare his rookie with 27 catches for 462 yards and five touchdowns. He followed with even better numbers in his last two years, posting two consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. Harmon finished his three-year career with 177 catches for 2,665 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Tommy Sweeney, Boston College, TE (Don Bosco Prep)

Selected: Round 7, 228th overall by Buffalo Bills

How did he get here: Sweeney became the first Boston College TE to be drafted in 15 years after a career of 99 receptions, 1,281 yards and 10 touchdowns from 2015-18. His best season at Chestnut Hill was junior when he finished with 36 catches for 512 yards and four touchdowns.

Michael Dogbe, Temple, DT (Parsippany Hills)

Selected: 7th inning, 249th at the Cardinals of Arizona

How did he get here: Attributed to Temple in 2018, with a one-digit number, awarded to the nine toughest players on the team, Dogbe enjoyed the best season of his career with 72 tackles (12.5 for one loss), seven sacks and three forced escapees.
