As if Endgame was not stressful enough.
By Laura Prudom
Update: For those who follow with the new episode, we update this article as the main characters perish. Beware of the main spoilers below!
If you are not already traumatized by the discovery of who lives and dies in Avengers: End of the match this weekend, the king of nights is ready to twist the knife Thanos had previously plunged into our collective hearts, then that Game of Thrones is preparing for an episode is no less devastating (if slightly scale smaller) than the final position of the Avengers.
We have already heard that the so-called "Battle of Winterfell" will be the longest consecutive battle sequence ever devoted to the film, and that "this last confrontation between the army of the dead and the army of the living is totally unprecedented and relentless, "says producer Bryan Cogman. Maisie Williams said the filming of the Battle of Winterfell left her "broken as a human being", while Iain Glen called it "the most unpleasant experience I have ever had. lived with Thrones ". So naturally, we know that it's going to be impressive.
But there is a good chance that many of our favorites will die in this "final showdown". So we interviewed the IGN staff to find out who was going to get out alive, and who, in our opinion, is definitely going to die in the Battle of Winterfell. First, refresh your memory with the main players we know are taking part in the battle in the slideshow below, then read on for our predictions.
JON SNOW
The real heir to the iron throne will have much more to handle than his lineage in the coming battle, and we think he will survive long enough to end this difficult conversation with his aunt in love Daenerys once the snow will be returned. 88.2% of IGN staff members think that it will survive the Battle of Winterfell.
DAENERYS TARGARYEN
The mother of the dragons may have to face his fallen son, Viserion, if the king of the night calls him, but the bomb that Jon has just cast on it will probably weigh heavy too. 82.4% of us think that she will survive the coming battle.
SANSA STARK
The Lady of Winterfell looks to be on the ramparts here with her sister rather than hiding in the crypts, and we can certainly rely on Arya to protect her, provided that they can stay together … 82.4% of the IGN team voted for it's I will stay alive during the carnage.
ARYA STARK
A girl has already said "not today" to the god of death many times before, but she clearly thought her premature demise was a possibility when she finally followed up on her desires for Gendry in the night. episode 2. Armed with his new weapon and the strings of the Faceless Men, we hope his many years of training will be used wisely here. Like his sister, 82.4% of IGN voters think Stark is safe.
Varys
The Spider seems ready to take refuge in the Winterfell crypts during the battle, but since the White Walkers are capable of resuscitating the dead, this may not be the safest place. The odds seem pretty much in favor of Varys, with 58.8% of us thinking that he will someday be whispering.
TYRION LANNISTER
As the queen's hand, Daenerys insisted that Tyrion should be protected despite his desire to stand alongside other fighters during the battle. Will it be enough to keep him safe? 75.6% of us think so.
EDD DOLORUS
The pillar of Night Watch has already survived many battles alongside Jon Snow, but his luck is exhausted? Unfortunately, we think that 100% of those surveyed think that Edd is dead.
Update: Dead!
YOHN ROYCE
You may have forgotten his name, but "Bronze Yohn" is a respected bannerman of Arryn House, who has great fighting experience, but 100% of us would be surprised to see him survive.
SER DAVOS SEAWORTH
Former hand of Stannis Baratheon and senior advisor to Jon Snow, Onion Knight has survived his share of battles more by chance than by judgment, but we would be sorry to lose him. IGN staff members are rather divided on its chances of survival, but 52.9% think it will come out alive.
GILLY
She will be hidden in the crypts of Winterfell with Little Sam and the other women and children, but this strategy could turn against her. Yet 70.6% of us think she and little Sam are going to live.
JAIME LANNISTER
Kingslayer, once arrogant, has redeemed himself by making the knight in Brienne of Tarth and committing himself to fight under his command at the Battle of Winterfell. Such a heroic twist makes us fear that Jaime is about to get noticed, but 52.9% of us think that he will survive.
BRAN STARK
The three-eyed crow intends to impersonate the king of the night, but his plan may be wrong in many ways. 58.8% of us think that Bran will die during the Battle of Winterfell.
BERIC DONDARRION
The Lord of the Light has resurrected this warrior six times, but without Myr's red priest Thoros, if he falls into the battle of Winterfell, there will be no seventh return. 94.1% of us think his time is up.
Update: Dead!
SER BRIENNE OF TARTH
This badass to the new knights is one of the most talented fighters in the series, but it will also be at the heart of the battle. Hoping that the series did not give him this moment of connection with Jaime just to kill her. 58.8% of us think that she will live to keep her oath another day.
SER JORAH MORMONT
The loyal servant of Daenerys (and his perpetual admirer) had a long way to go and his conversation with his cousin Lyanna, which should have taken place a long time ago, suggests that his time might be over, but he got a Sam Tarly's new Valyrian steel sword should give him a chance to fight the White Walkers. 81.3% of IGN staff members think it's going to bite the dust.
Update: Dead!
LYANNA MORMONT
Lady of Bear Island is not afraid to hide in crypts with other women and children. So we hope that she is small enough to dodge all White Walkers attacks. Fortunately, 75% of us think that she stays around.
Update: Dead!
THEON GRAYJOY
Theon has made many mistakes regarding Winterfell and hopes to redeem himself by shielding Bran from the Night King alongside the other Ironborns, which means that he could be perfectly placed to make the final sacrifice in hope to repair his misdeeds. 64.7% of us think that he will die while defending Bran.
Update: Dead!
TORMUND GIANTSBANE
Hoping that all this giant milk will keep this gigantic ginger Wildinger safe enough to continue flirting with Brienne for several episodes. 76.5% of IGN think that he will die in the Battle of Winterfell.
PODRICK PAYNE
After the serenade of episode 2 of a bewitching and perhaps prophetic song, the lord of Brienne will finally be able to put his training to the test during the Battle of Winterfell. 64.7% of us think it will not be enough to get him out alive.
THE DOG
Sandor Clegane must surely survive long enough to confront his brother, The Mountain, and give us Cleganebowl? Nevertheless, there is a lot of fire in the teasers for the Battle of Winterfell … 58.8% of us think that his luck will be retained so that we can have the confrontation we expected.
GENDRY
Robert Baratheon's bastard finally consumed his flirtation with Arya, and he worked hard to build dragonglass weapons for the battle – but will he live long enough for his real lineage to be useful to him? 52.9% of us think that it will fall without reaching the end of the series.
Missandei
His relationship with Gray Worm is one of the few pure and good things in this series, which makes us afraid that the writers will tear it up. But we are looking for those crazy kids. 52.9% think she will survive.
GRAY WORM
This loyal soldier is ready to lead the Unsullied and the rest of Dany's army to make war on King Night and his army of the undead, but as he is at the front, we just hope that he will not be able to. he will return to Missandei. Unfortunately, our collaborators are not as optimistic about her chances as at Missandei: 76.5% think that he will die in combat.
SAMWELL TARLY
If we believe some theories of fans, Sam could perhaps tell this whole story (and as he pointed out in episode 2, he survived a surprising amount of battles up to Now, one way or another) and we think it's safe enough. Or 52.9% of us, anyway.
GHOST
Jon's loyal werewolf has been MIA for most of the past two seasons, but he made an appearance with Jon, Sam, and Edd in episode 2, hinting that he should have a role to play in the battle. We only hope that the series will not bring him back after all this time, just to kill him – but 56.3% of us fear that this is exactly what will happen.
DROGON AND RHAEGAL
The remaining Daenerys dragons are the best defense of the living against the king of the night and hopefully two against one will keep their chance to defeat Viserion. 70.6% of us think that Drogon will survive, while Rhaegal's chances are slightly worse with 58.8% of the votes saying that he will live.
Melisandre
Melisandre is a surprise addition to this list as nothing previously indicated that she would even join the Battle of Winterfell. But join her, becoming the very last person to die at the dawn of a new day on Winterfell.
