The NFL and the players 'union have received the same audio tape showing Chiefs' general receiver, Tyreek Hill, and his fiancee discussing injuries sustained by their child, which a TV channel aired last week.
The league has always refused to use the Commissioner's list of exemptions during the off-season, but plans to make an exception in this case, probably as early as this week, as Hill is in the middle of a criminal investigation. Johnson County Attorney Attorney Steve Howe reopened the case Friday after receiving the KCTV audio file in Kansas City.
The owner of the chiefs, Clark Hunt, said Saturday that the team was conducting its own internal investigation, although it is unclear how much information the Johnson County Attorney's Office will make available.
There was speculation that the leaders could release Hill once the weekend's NFL plan was over, but Hunt refused to discuss these internal deliberations. He said Saturday that "there are several ongoing investigations concerning Tyreek and we will have to let this process unfold".
