Cardinals insider Bob McManaman looks at each of the team's 11 choices in the 2019 NFL Draft and examines their potential roles and what they bring to the club:
Kyler Murray
Position: Strategist
Age: 21
Born: Bedford, Texas
Size weight: 5-10, 200
University: Oklahoma
written: First round, 1st overall choice

Stat to note: Became the first FBS player to average an average of 300 passing yards (311.5) and at least 60 rushing yards (71.5) per game for a full season.
Where he's going He will immediately assume Cardinals starting quarterback duties, replacing Josh Rosen, last year's first-round pick, who was traded to the Dolphins for a second-round pick in 2019 and a fifth-round pick in 2020. Murray will be the epicenter of the rapid attack of coach Kliff Kingsbury, who will feature a shotgun configuration and multiple receiver looks, as well as an attack Quick attack outside the game and race / pass options.
What the cardinals say: "The way I looked at the situation, I'm not going to lie to you, I was reluctant. I did not want to watch the band. I did not want to fall in love with the player. But as I watched more and more people and saw what he could do, I never saw one at a time that has that kind of skill. As I continued to know the person, we did all our homework, we did due diligence and we discovered each stone, plus I became convinced that it was the ideal type for us. – Steve Keim, Executive Director
What he said: "I think everything takes time, everything is an adjustment. It will not be easy, of course. This is the National Football League and make the most of everyone. For me, I think it's just happen, work hard every day. If I fail a little, that's good. Everyone fails, but at the same time, I get up, I keep going, I keep making efforts and I just make sure that I do my best to keep it going. "
Did you know? Since starting at Allen High School in Texas, Murray is 57-3 as a starting quarterback. He was 43 in high school and had won three consecutive titles.

Byron Murphy
Position: cornerback
Age: 21
Born: Scottsdale
Size weight: 5-11, 182
University: Washington
written: Second round, 33rd choice in all
Stat to note: As a senior at Saguaro High School, Murphy not only had 52 tackles and seven interceptions in defense, but he also captured 88 passes for 1,733 yards and 21 touchdowns as wide receivers.
Where he's going It will be interesting to see if Murphy has the opportunity to compete with veteran Robert Alford for the counter-half position of Patrick Peterson. It's something that Murphy said he hopes will happen. If this is not the case, expect him to see some time in the right-hand corner of the team, whether it's a rotation or a full-time position, while having an impact on the special teams.
What the cardinals say: "He will compete, there is no doubt. He will be in the rotation somewhere. He is that kind of playmaker. You see the production, the breaks in the pass. He always seems to have his hand on football one way or another and a dynamic talent in the slot at the corner. We gave it a very high score as a defensive staff and as an organization. We are delighted to find it. – Coach Kliff Kingsbury
What he said: "It's going to be amazing (playing with and learning from Patrick Peterson). I watched him grow up, always watching his footwork, always watching his technique and all those things, and now I have the opportunity to play with him. I'm going to get his brain as much as I can. I know how good he is. Everyone knows how good he is. I'm going to get his brain and continue to learn. "
Did you know? Murphy becomes the fifth Washington defenseman to be drafted in the first two rounds of the past five years and sixth in the last seven.
Andy Isabella
Position: Wide receiver
Age: 22
Born: Mayfield, Ohio
Size weight: 5-9, 188
University: Massachusetts
written: Second round, 62nd choice in all
Stat to note: Last season, he led the FBS with 1,698 receiving yards and 141.5 receiving yards per game, an additional 288 total yards and 24 yards more per game than any other receiver in the country. end of the conference league matches.
Where he's going He should play a leading role somewhere in the Kingsbury offensive, either as a slot machine player or as a player in its own right. Its speed of 4.3 and its safe hands almost guarantee it. It perfectly matches what Kingsbury wants to do, which is to illuminate it through a series of aerial attacks. Isabella could be one of the biggest surprises of this year's project.
What they say: "Isabella runs a 4.31, so it's a guy that's going to have to watch every time that he'll show up on the ground because of this serious threat." – Kingsbury
What he said: "I think it's great. I was almost star struck to walk with him to the combine. I never had to talk to him, but I can not wait to play with him. – Isabella partners with Kyler Murray
Did you know? In a game against University of Liberty last year, Isabella racked up 303 yards and two touchdowns in just nine receptions – an average of 33.7 yards per shot. It was the record for rushing yards in a match of all FBS players in 2018 and set a record in one game.
Zach Allen
Position: Defensive end
Age: 21
Born: New Canaan, CT.
Size weight: 6-4, 281
University: Boston College
written: Third round, 65th overall choice
Stat to note: As a junior in 2017, he was one of only two defensive linemen in the country to have 100 or more tackles.
Where he's going Although he can play several positions up front, the Cardinals are projecting Allen as the ideal back for a 3-4 defense. If that's where they use it, he'll have a chance to compete with new veteran Darius Philon for the entry-level job and at the very least, be a regular at the rotation. Allen's presence could spell the death knell for Robert Nkemdiche, even though the Cardinals are considering giving him another chance.
What they say: "Zack Allen is one of the players I may have enjoyed most during the evaluation process. … the guy plays as if his air is on fire. He is relentless. He does different things from the point of view of the pass, that many defensive ends and five techniques do not do it. It brings the tenacity and intensity we were looking for. – Keim
What he said: "Effortlessly, you're just a bread and a bread means you're a traitor to your team."
Did you know? According to ProFootballFocus, Allen was the sixth best rider in the repechage, ahead of other interesting first-round prospects such as Montez Sweat and Rashan Gary.
Hakeem Butler
Position: Wide receiver
Age: 22
Born: Baltimore
Size weight: 6-5, 227
University: State of Iowa
written: Fourth round, 103rd overall pick
Stat to note: His 1318 yards and 22.0 yards per serve averaged new school records one season, as did his six 100-yard games.
Where he's going Its size and stature give the Cardinals a look they have not seen since Michael Floyd and Butler's ability will give him the opportunity to have a lot of playing time, especially in the red zone where he excels on 50/50 balloons. His arrival would seem to make Chad Williams a victim of the lineup.
What they say: "It's a special talent. Now, going to the next level, to refine some of his technique, his fundamentals, is going to be huge. Love passion, love what it is in life. – Kingsbury
What he said: "(Learn from Larry Fitzgerald) I think that's the thing that excites me the most, just because he's been in the game. It's a legend. "Larry Legend." Just to understand anything about him, whether for next year or in any years he'll be there, I'm excited. "
Did you know? Butler became the first wide receiver in the state of Iowa to be selected since Tracy Henderson was picked up by the Giants in the fifth round (132nd overall) in 1985.
Deionte Thompson
Position: Free security
Age: 22
Born: Orange, Texas
Size weight: 6-1, 195
University: Alabama
written: Fifth round, 139th overall
Stat to note: The four forced fumbles from Thompson last year were the second highest total in Alabama history in one season.
Where he's going We will have the opportunity to directly impact special teams and projects as a backup somewhere in the mix behind Budda Baker. One of Thompson's knees raised concerns that may limit him at some point in his career. He has just undergone surgery to repair torn wrist ligaments.
What they say: "We do not really have a security post that has the range and the movement capabilities like this guy. He played big game. He is physical. He loves the game. … Deionte is a guy we've come to know at the combine and we love the band and what he brings to the table in terms of reach and athleticism. # 39; s back. – Keim
What he said: "(The Cardinals) were one of my best meetings at the combine. I did not feel like a board member and they gave me the call I was looking for. I'm grateful for that and ready to get to work with Kingsbury Coach and those guys. "
Did you know? Thompson is one of 10 Alabama players who were selected during the writing of 2019 – the largest number among any programs in the country.
KeeSean Johnson
Position: Wide receiver
Age: 22
Born: Mountain View, Calif.
Size weight: 6-2, 201
University: State of Fresno
written: Sixth round, 174th overall choice.
Stat to note: Johnson leaves the state of Fresno as the school's all-time leader in career care (275) and reception yards (3,463). Her career total is 42 more than the previous record set by Davante Adams (233), now a Green Bay Packer.
Where he's going Third of the three receivers receiving the cardinals in this draft, the assumption would be that it will be very difficult to break the list. In fact, it will not be so difficult, as Keim and Kingsbury love this player, his technique and ability to run during the route is virtually flawless for a sixth round choice. He will see touches in 2019. Bet on him. That's probably what bodes bad for others like Kevin White, Pharoh Cooper, Trent Sherfield, Damiere Byrd, Jalen Tolliver, Malachi Dupre or Bryant Mitchell.
What they say: "The only thing that struck me about this young man as I watched the band was that he was one of the best rangers I saw in the selection process. . … His versatility in position and his ability to create games we have jumped tape. – Keim
What he said: "I bring everything they need to the offensive. No matter what. If they want me to play inside. Outside, no matter what it is. I will learn the entire offense both inside and out. I arrive and I will not stop what happens.
Did you know? Johnson ended his college career after catching at least one pass in each of his last 50 games – the longest streak in FBS players. The total also set a school record and the Mountain West Conference.
Lamont Gaillard
Position: Center / Guard
Age: 23
Born: Fayetteville, N.C.
Size weight: 6-3, 305
University: Georgia
written: Sixth round, 179th overall
Stat to note: After playing two games as a rookie in 2015, Gaillard has played 42 games in his last three seasons in Georgia, including 29 at the center for the past two years.
Where he's going Initially, Gaillard is a reserve, but valuable in that it can play the three positions inside the offensive line. He played the guard at the college in addition to playing center. The depth map is currently congested in front of A.Q. Shipley and Mason Cole in the middle and guards profusely at J.R. Sweezy, Justin Pugh, Max Garcia, Colby Gossett and others. Since Cole can also play on guard, he could get a specific job, which could allow Gaillard to work strictly behind Shipley until his time is up.
What they say: "We were delighted to watch him in both places and know that a guy has combo abilities and can probably play all three places inside. It's really, for me, a great asset. "- Keim
What he said: "I thought I was going much earlier than that because I thought I was the best center in the repechage."
Did you know? Gaillard arrived in Georgia after Pine Forest High School in Lafayette as one of the country's top defensive strikers before taking the offensive line.
Joshua Miles
Position: Tackle
Age: 22
Born: Baltimore
Size weight: 6-5, 314
University: Morgan State
written: Seventh round, 248th overall choice
Stat to note: Named captain of the senior team, he only granted one bag starting from the left side and becoming the first Morgan State player to play in the East-West Shrine game.
Where he's going Miles is another player who offers the Cardinals' position a flexibility in that he can be a swing tackler as well as a goalkeeper. He is relatively new to the sport and will have to develop all his skills, but the team loves his size and strength and believes that Miles can use his hands to eventually become a viable player. He will have to earn a job as a versatile reservist.
What they say: "We have had success with little school players in the past. His size really jumps on the band. He has some of the longest arms I've seen – 36-inch and 11-inch hands and he's just scratching the surface. It's someone who, knowing the quality of our offensive line coach, Sean Kugler, is able to develop the players. We really think we have a chance with this player. "- Keim
What he said: "I'm pretty brutal, but he's an excellent O-line staff, so I'm sure they'll be able to smooth out my technique and my game. I'll just be ready to suck coaching and be the most coachable guy like a sponge. "
Did you know? Miles missed the entire 2017 season after being declared academically inadmissible and hamstring injury prevented him from taking tests at the combine this year, which probably reduced his stock.
Michael Dogbe
Position: Defensive tackle
Age: 22
Born: Morris Plains, N.J.
Size weight: 6-3, 284
University: Temple
written: Seventh round, 249th overall choice
Stat to note: Played 47 career games at Temple, he recorded 158 tackles, 19½ tackles for loss, 8½ sacks and five forced fumbles. Set career highs last year as a senior in tackles (72), tackled for loss (12½), sacks (seven) and forced fumbles (three).
Where he's going It will be difficult to break the line-up, even in a reserve role, but the Cardinals love Dogbe's determination and recognition for being qualified. He has an extraordinary work ethic and wants to be an elite player. His can go as far as his command allows him and that might be enough to deserve a place in the practice team, if nothing else.
What they say: "He looks like a lot of Temple players, extremely hard and passionate. … I think that's how he plays on a tape. I think he's had seven sacks as an inner defensive line player, which is remarkable, as we all know. – Keim
What he said: "It's just" envy. "It's me who worked throughout the off season, I knew I could be an elite football player and I'm just a football student. At the end of the year, I decided to do the best I could, watch movies, attend additional meetings with coaches, and that's what was shown this season. "
Did you know? Dogbe left Temple after graduating with a degree in Strategic Communication and is pursuing a Master's degree in Entrepreneurship and Innovative Management.
Caleb Wilson
Position: Tight end
Age: 22
Born: Dallas
Size weight: 6-4, 240
University: UCLA
written: Seventh round, 254th overall choice.
Stat to note: Led the Bruins to receptions (60) and receptions (965), both totals setting school records one season for a close end. His 965 yards at the front led all the tight ends of the FBS.
Where he's going He could be known as "Mr. No matter" because he was the last player selected in the 2019 draft, but Wilson was playing seriously and could compete for a spot in the lineup if he could find a way to beat Darrell Daniels for number three spot behind Ricky Seals-Jones veteran newcomer Charles Clay.
What they say: "Really loved his character, what he brings to the table on and off the pitch. His father (Chris Wilson) is a long time coach that I know well and that I have a lot of respect for him. To make it so that Mr. Irrelevant is a special thing for all of us. – Keim
What he said: "I'm excited because they throw the ball a lot, which is probably my strong point right now, catch the ball and stretch the field, and that's what they do. I am excited to see how I associate with the system and how I can help contribute to the team. "
Did you know? Chris Wilson has been a two-time line captain as a defensive lineman with Oklahoma. He was selected by the Bears in 1992. He coached in 1993 and spent the last three seasons as an Eagles defensive line coach. Previously, he had done a coaching job for minority Cardinals in 1997.
