How Black Widow's Avengers: The End of Game Moment Connects to His New Solo Movie

Many expected Tony Stark or Steve Rogers to sacrifice their lives to protect the universe and defeat Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, but many were surprised to see Black Widow, aka Natasha Romanoff, meet his goal in the fourth film of the Avengers.

To quickly recap: for the Avengers to secure all Infinity Stones and finish their "Time Heist", it was inevitable that one of them would swap his life for Soul Stone on Vormir, and that was Black Widow who chose to pay this price. In a sacrificial act to rescue his friends and restore the Vanished, Black Widow exchanged his soul so Hawkeye could return to the present with the Soul Stone and find his family once resurrected.

It turned out to be one of the most controversial and controversial moments in Avengers: Endgame, but is it really the end of its story, especially given that a Black Widow movie is currently in preparation? Let's break it down.

The taking of Hulk

After Hulk has found the Vanished, he explains that he has also tried to bring back Black Widow to no avail. This seems to destroy the theory that someone with the Stones could simply bring her back to life. It seems that when a soul is exchanged for the soul stone, it is a permanent agreement that even the combined Infinity Stones can not cancel. It is natural that Bruce Banner tries to resurrect her because of their emotional connection, but her efforts have been in vain.

(We've heard skeptics say that Banner could have been a success and nobody would know because she would be back on Vormir, but we'll take her comment for cash and assume that Bruce realized that his efforts were in vain the power of Infinity Stones.)

What about Captain America who hands the stone of soul?

At the end of the film, Captain America goes back in time to put the Infinity Stones back in their place in the timeline. This includes the return of the soul stone to his home on Vormir. (It's crazy to think that Cape probably spoke to Red Skull when he dropped it in the lunge back!) One would think that Black Widow's soul would be released upon return of the soul stone, but since there was no hint of it in the movie, it seems that Vormir does not make any refund or exchange.

Could Gamora replace Black Widow?

It should also be noted that after the delivery of the Soulstone in 2014, the Infinity War events will materialize and Thanos will sacrifice Gamora to recover the Soul Stone. If the soul of Gamora is given for the stone of souls, would it liberate the soul of Black Widow? The film does not bring much clarity about it, but the comics explain that the soulstone actually contains an entire dimension called the Souls World. We saw Thanos make a brief visit at the end of Infinity War, where he was able to briefly communicate with the soul of Gamora. In comics, the stone of souls is anxious for souls and does not wish to let them go. It is therefore likely that the same rules apply in the film. There is no exchange of souls because the soul stone wants to enlarge his collection, not abandon them

What about the movie Black Widow's?

Black Widow's movie is supposed to be a prequel after the events of the first Avengers movie, so even though she died at the end of Endgame, there is still a lot of history to explore when she arrives in the Avengers. Who knows, we could finally find out what happened in Budapest!

The film Black Widow is directed by Cate Shortland with a screenplay by Jac Schaeffer. In addition to Scarlett Johansson's return to the lead role, David Harbor and Florence Pugh would also play in undisclosed roles.
