PHOENIX – DJ LeMahieu has been classified daily by the Yankees after having an MRI on Monday.

The Yankees league player came out of Sunday's game in San Francisco with an inflammation of the right knee, a late result of defiling a bullet in his leg on Friday.

The x-rays taken on Sunday were negative and LeMahieu thought he would be an available player for the Yankees' two-match series of inter-matches against the Diamondbacks starting Tuesday night.

According to the Yankees, LeMahieu's MRI confirmed the inflammation caused by the initial bruise suffered on Friday.

"The knee has become more and more painful as the game progresses," LeMahieu said after the Yankees' 11-17 victory on Sunday.

LeMahieu came out after two battles, but "I think I'll be good," he said about his availability against Arizona. "That's what I think."

In addition, third baseman Gio Urshela – who scored 7 goals against 11 in the three-game sweep in San Francisco – hopes to play on Tuesday.

Urshela came out of Sunday's game after taking a quick shot from Nick Vincent with his left hand. X-rays were negative and no other tests were planned.

Return track

In Tampa, Florida on Monday, Miguel Andujar (small tear, right labrum) and Troy Tulowitzki (left calf strained) participated in an intensive spring training game.

Tulowitzki may be ready to join Andujar on Tuesday at Tampa A class to begin a re-education mission for the minor leagues.

This would put Andujar and Tulowitzki on the right track to return to Yankees training this weekend.

Andujar scored 3 goals against 5 Monday and played five innings in third base, holding two chances and making two good shots on first base, according to one observer.

For his first appearance in an extended spring match, Tulowitzki had no chance in four innings at the shortstop.

On the plate, Tulowitzki went 1-on-4 with a walk and dominated his first game at bat.

Center fieldman Aaron Hicks (in the lower back) is expected to play his first extended spring training game on Wednesday.
