The pay gap between men and women exists for a variety of reasons. Discrimination is one; the educational experience and the choice of work are others. Areas that employ a lot of women tend to pay less.
Glassdoor, a website that reviews companies, recently conducted a survey of the US workplace and found that the gap between women's and men's wages is greater in some sectors. Glassdoor also found that the educational experience becomes a less and less important factor in the pay gap between men and women. Stacey Vanek Smith spoke with Glassdoor's chief economist, Andrew Chamberlain, about the findings of his company.
