This is perhaps our first look at the new Motorola Razr

Motorola devices from Razr were probably the most iconic phones on the market until the iPhone landed in 2007. The phones that really launched the craze for thin phones, the Razr line, have challenged our expectations as to the size and the elegance of a smartphone.

And now, he seems ready to return. We first heard rumors about it in January, and now a new courtesy leak of SlashLeaks (from an article after Weibo deleted since) seems to show the device in its official rendering glory, as well as a mysterious device resembling a triangular prism box. Perhaps the packaging of the device?

Unlike other folding phones we have seen so far, this one folds vertically from old clamshell devices. The rendering does not tell us if there is a second external screen for the moment when the device is folded, but it is safe to assume, since this is a feature since the very first Razr. Presumably, this one would be bigger than the tiny one inch size panel on these phones.

When the rumors of the Razr were reborn for the first time on the Web, I was skeptical about the hyper-high design. But if foldable phones remain a question mark at the moment – the sustainability issues of the Galaxy Fold are of particular concern – I think Motorola's form factor could end up being more convenient than it seems. Turned to the side (and depending on the final aspect ratio), I could see that the device was ideal for ultra-thin format reports common to Hollywood.

Used vertically, it could allow you to run two applications – one above the other – comfortably and so you can use the keyboard in a natural way. I still think that typing on a tablet's touch screen is embarrassing – and so far most folding phones looked like small tablets – but the Razr would keep the width of a regular phone nicer for the thumb .

Of course, these are just speculations on my part and we will have to see what the final results look like. And we do not know any other details, such as phone specifications, release date or price (although the the Wall Street newspaper estimated at $ 1,500). But Motorola made confirm that he was working on a new Razr aircraft in February, so we'll know more in the months to come.
