Strengths
Crosby was delighted with the MAC's offensive attack and had a penchant for getting into the backfield and creating havoc. He has consistently produced bags and tights for loss, amassing 20 bags and an incredible 41 TFL during his three years in East Michigan. After being declared for the repechage, he was invited to the Combined, where he absolutely crushed all his exercises and made his name known to those who may not have heard of him. He was in the top five in almost every exercise in his job and was tested better than many other promising candidates.
Offensive linemen had their hands full of Crosby's heavy frame and ability to get rid of blocks with ease. Blockers rarely get their hands on Crosby, it's like trying to block the smoke. He is slippery to a guy of his size and never gives up a play, constantly looking for a way to make an impact or force a breakaway. He uses his superior length to create turnovers and often put his hand on the ball or his carrier. His reflexes are great and he is much more nervous than we would expect given his slender figure. Crosby is a fan of the pass, but he is just as good at defending the race and his ability to build a physical advantage is above average.
weaknesses
This long and thin figure is Crosby's best asset, but also his greatest potential weakness, as he has no muscular definition or the strength that most hardcore players have to cope with the enormous attacks of Crosby. the NFL. It's not the MAC and Crosby must absolutely become bigger and stronger. He could stand 20 pounds more of pure muscle on his frame.
He has all the members right now and must become stronger and bigger in his core. When he does, he must also learn to use his hands more effectively when he rushes, because he will not be able to settle for shooting against the NFL as he gets used to. He also can not let potential tacklers escape, as his lack of strength in the upper body has caused some running backs to escape his grip on college. It's not going to fly in the pros. A season with Deuce Gruden should make Crosby an absolute monster because he has all the athleticism you could want in a 4-3 defensive base.
Verdict
Before the Combine, Crosby was considered a sixth or seventh member. After his fantastic performance in Indianapolis, he moved on to the second day. For Mike Mayock, placing him in the fourth quarter is a bargain and he may well be the best choice in the draft for the Raiders. He has a greater potential than many players caught before him and may be the real bull in a defensive porcelain shop that was missing from the Raiders last year.
Fit with Raiders
The Raiders had to add a hint of speed in this project and that's what they did, first with Clelin Ferrell, then with Crosby. If Crosby fully develops his potential, he will form fantastic defensive goals with Ferrell and with Maurice Hurst in the middle, the opposing quarterbacks will feel the warmth of all directions at all times. Crosby may not start right away, but when he does, he will bring the Raider defense an opportunistic style of play that was sorely needed.
