A very photogenic seagull has attracted the attention of Twitter users this week after being perched several times in front of a traffic camera in London. They say that the early bird catches the worm, but that the persistent gull apparently gets something even better: the fame of the viral internet.
The seagull first appeared on Twitter on Monday, when her picture was posted on TfL Traffic News, an account that publishes traffic updates in London. Transport for London (TFL) is "a local government organization responsible for most aspects of London's transportation system," according to its website.
The account subtitled the Photo from the bird, looking straight into the camera, "Happy Monday …" The account posted a photo of the bird once again early Tuesday morning with the caption, "Guess who's back ?!"
However, it was the third tweet – a long 11-second video – posted hours later that really ruffled the feathers. The narrative joked that the bird was a traffic journalist in the legend, who wrote: "By popular demand, a brief update of our journalist just north of the Blackwall Tunnel …" The tweet has generated over 12,000 retweets and 37,000 mentions I like, at press time. It seems that the bird has returned to the same place every three times, the camera displaying Brunswick Road in all three positions.
While the account was a real success, Twitter users also participated in the fun conversation by tweeting hilarious comments. Journalist Paul Bradbury tweeted As a bird's voice, "Well, Dave, as you can see, he's starting to get busy here, so best to follow him on an alternate route if you can." Journalist Rob Zerwekh also ring writing a tweet filled with puns, "You are so credulous to take the A102 Blackwall tunnel today, do the good croaking and head to the next bridge."
Liz Dueweke, a presenter at Seattle-based Fox News, also took part in the fun part of the story by telling a classic joke. "We are still waiting for confirmation that the chicken has crossed the road," she said. tweeted. "Back to you." His joke justified even another punny reply John Boyle, Seattle Seahawks Digital Reporter: "Stop, these word games are terrible."
However, a user did not think the bird was a traffic reporter, but joked that it was a massive version of itself. "RACE FOR LIFE IS FIVE FEET SEAGULL" wrote a user @ MothTwiceborn.
Although the internet is not often agreed, a very friendly seagull vis-à-vis the camera made Twitter users laugh well this week, showing that the birds of a feather they assemble really well. As long as word games are involved.
