Apple Watch continues to be an important source of growth for Apple. In Apple's earnings call for the second quarter of 2019, Apple CEO Tim Cook and CFO Luca Maestri praised Apple Watch's success during the quarter, revealing that the three quarter of Apple Watch sales were aimed at first time buyers.

Apple says the second quarter of 2019 is the best holiday quarter ever for Apple Watch. In total, Apple's apparel, home and accessories category set a new record for the March quarter with sales of $ 5.1 billion. This represents an increase of $ 3.94 billion in the quarter of the previous year.

During the conference call, Tim Cook said that this gives Apple's portable device company the size of a Fortune 200 company. At the same time, Luca Maestri claimed that computer sales had increased by 50% over the previous year.

It's quite remarkable to see that three-quarters of Apple Watch sales are aimed at new customers. If Apple does not disclose individual sales figures for Apple Watch, it would be interesting to see what part of customers buy the Apple Watch Series 4 compared to the latest generation models such as the Series 3 at lower prices.
