The draw for the Mega Millions lottery was held without a winner of the jackpot Tuesday night, but a lucky ticket sold in New Jersey is worth $ 1 million.
Officials of the New Jersey Lottery will reveal the retailer who sold the $ 1 million bill later on Tuesday. It was five digits, but not the Mega Ball.
It was the only second prize ticket bought nationwide. Nobody has hit the jackpot estimated at $ 229 million.
Monday's winning numbers were: 24, 37, 41, 61 and 70. The Mega Ball was 20 with a Megaplier of 3X.
Friday's jackpot is estimated at $ 252 million, with a cash option of $ 139.1 million.
No one has won the Mega Millions jackpot since March 12, when Hira Singh of Shawnee, Kansas, won the $ 50 million first prize with a ticket bought from QuikTrip in Kansas City, Missouri. Since then, 14 draws twice a week have taken place without a jackpot winner.
A Mega Millions ticket costs $ 2. The odds that the ticket will match five numbers and that the Mega Ball is 302,575,350 to 1. This is a shot on one out of 12,607,306 to win the second prize of at least $ 1 million by matching five figures.
Mega Millions is played in 44 states, Washington D.C. and the US Virgin Islands.
