Jacobs' Trainer: Sanchez talked about Golovkin's concert

LAS VEGAS – Andre Rozier was not surprised to learn last week about the split between Gennady Golovkin and coach Abel Sanchez.

Daniel Jacobs coach said on Tuesday that he thought Sanchez's outspokenness had cost him his position as a Golovkin corner man. Sanchez publicly revealed last week that his long-standing prosperous partnership with Golovkin had ended recently because Golovkin wanted Sanchez to take a significant pay cut for his upcoming fights.

Rozier and Jacobs spoke of Golovkin-Sanchez's split towards the end of their meeting on Tuesday at the MGM Grand. They met with reporters after the "big finishes" of the fight for the unification of Jacobs' middleweight title against Canelo Alvarez on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena (DAZN).

Jacobs and Rozier both hated the way Sanchez talked about Jacobs before and after Jacobs lost a close decision against Golovkin two years ago at Madison Square Garden.

Jacobs, formed by Rozier since his teenage years, stressed Tuesday that Golovkin was not the only boxer to part with Sanchez recently. Former cruiserweight champion Murat Gassiev, heavyweight Joe Joyce and veteran junior welterweight Ryan Martin have also started working with new coaches since their last fights.

Golovkin of Kazakhstan (38-1-1, 34 KO) did not announce who will lead him for his next fight. The former middleweight champion will face Canadian Steve Rolls (19-0, 10 KO's) on June 8 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
