The biggest question of the few teasers of the car has been solved. The Vantage AMR, part of Aston Martin's race-inspired performance lineup for its road cars, will receive a third pedal. Its seven-speed manual transmission has been optimized for track activity by associating it with carbon ceramic brakes.
With a top speed of 300 km / h provided by a 4-liter V8 bi-turbo engine, it looks like it will be a fun car, even if it's not as fast as the regular Vantage (the 0-60 the time is 3.9 seconds, the normal Vantage is 3.5).
The low position of the engine and the fact that it is pushed as far as possible into the chassis gives it an almost perfect weight distribution of 50:50, according to Aston Martin.
This notion of "weight" is another key element of the Vantage AMR, namely that Aston has reduced it as much as possible for better weight optimization. The AMR is expected to weigh about 209 pounds lighter than its standard Vantage counterpart.
Aston Martin manufactures only 200 Vantage AMR units, priced at $ 204,995. You will have to act quickly if you want one. One hundred and forty-one of them will be available in nice optional versions of the designers, but the last 59 will all be made to the same specifications to celebrate the 60th anniversary of their victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. These special models, called "Vantage 59" – will be covered with Stirling Green paint with lime accents, which, honestly, is one of the most aesthetically pleasing color combinations possible.
If your heart is on the Vantage AMR but you can not get one, do not worry. Aston said the standard Vantage will have a manual transmission option in the first half of 2020, once all the AMRs will have been sold.
