Rory McIlroy describes Tiger Woods' tactics on the golf course: "He knows he's intimidating people"

Tiger Woods and his formidable red polo have been at the center of Sunday's concerns for more than 20 years.

Rory McIlroy, who is considered to be one of Woods' pretenders to the throne, spoke about the dress choices of the reigning Masters champion and how that could have boosted his confidence.

"One of the things that helped all this is the turtleneck that he came back to, people are correlating it with this Masters win of 05," said McIlroy on the Golf Channel podcast. "And that probably made him feel good."

McIlroy, who finished tied for 21st at the tournament last month, was questioned about some tactics at Woods' golf course being intentional. Facilitator Carson Daily pointed out that Woods was already on the putting green while competitor Francisco Molinari was on his third shot at the 12th hole.

"Just like you had that little glimpse of red in your eyes?" McIlroy said. "One hundred percent. I mean, he knows he's intimidating people and it's like, "I'm going to make you feel my presence."

Molinari finished two shots behind Woods.

The next event on the PGA Tour is the Wells Fargo Championship. McIlroy is ready for the start at 12:50 on Thursday, while Woods jumps on the event.

The next major championship is the PGA Championship, which begins May 16th.
