Two-time NBA champion Lamar Odom returns to basketball more than three years after being found unconscious in a Nevada brothel on the verge of death.

Odom joined the Big3 3-on-3 basketball league, created Wednesday by rapper and business magnate, Ice Cube, and was named co-captain of the Enemies before the league draft.

The 14-year-old NBA veteran, who suffered a dozen attacks and six heart attacks in a coma in October 2015, told The Los Angeles Times that he was ready to begin the next chapter of his life in the same city where he almost died.

"It's crazy because I have so much history in Vegas," Odom told the Los Angeles Times. "I almost went to school here. I almost died here. It's crazy that it's happening to me now here. Many situations that have changed my life have occurred in Vegas. I hope this will prepare me to go play a season abroad. That's what I really want to do, then I'll hang it up there. I still want a race.

Odom will be part of a team composed of Gilbert Arenas, Perry Jones III, Royce White, Craig Smith and Frank Robinson, former star of the Washington Wizards. Rick Mahorn, former Detroit Pistons star player, is their head coach.

Odom has spent seven seasons with the LA Lakers, five seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers and one season with the Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks.

He admitted to the Los Angeles Times that his health problems had forced him to change the way he played basketball. He has not played professionally since going abroad in Spain in 2014.
