Inside the 10 properties of Mark Zuckerberg, from Lake Tahoe to Palo Alto

Billionaire Mark Zuckerberg has recently expanded his real estate portfolio and summer vacation options.

The chief executive of Facebook dropped more than $ 59 million on two properties adjacent to Lake Tahoe last winter, reported Katherine Clarke of the Wall Street Journal. The purchase took place privately through a limited liability company and a high-end wealth manager, according to Clarke.

This is only the latest addition to Zuckerberg's collection of properties in the western United States. He also owns properties in Palo Alto, San Francisco and on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, making Tahoe his fourth site.

Together, Zuckerberg has purchased 10 properties, although he has the gift of also buying surrounding properties to preserve his privacy. He purchased four houses surrounding his main residence in Palo Alto and a stake in a beach adjacent to a plantation purchased in Kauai.

Zuckerberg is also known to have been involved in a real estate conflict – there has been a conflict over the enclave parcels of the plantation, and the neighbors apparently would not be happy with the effects of Zuckerberg's year-round renovation on his private mansion in San Francisco.
