The Chicago Bulls have agreed to extend their contract with coach Jim Boylen, the team said Friday.
After replacing Fred Hoiberg in December, Boylen had accepted a short-term contract that would lead him to the end of the 2019-2020 season, but this new multi-year agreement will replace him, ESPN sources told reporters. league. Boylen is interviewing assistant coaching candidates, according to League sources.
Bulls' property and management sees Boylen as the teacher the franchise needs with a young lineup and likes the way he was able to build relationships with the players while empowering and training them hard.
The Bulls return a strong core of young players that should be completed in free will – and a 12.5% chance in the lottery draw to win the first pick.
After the dismissal of Hoiberg in December, Boylen was promoted to associate head coach. From the beginning, the Bulls made it clear that they would probably not do any coaching research during the off season, instead choosing to become Boylen's coach instead of an acting one.
