NEW YORK – A federal prosecutor said Friday that former company chief Christian Dawkins, accused of corrupting college basketball coaches, had lied at the trial of the witness at his New York trial .

Dawkins testified earlier this week as the only defense witness. He denied ever bribing coaches at major universities in exchange for help for signing NBA-related players.

Prosecutor Noah Solowiejczyk reminded jurors in a plea on Friday that footage of an undercover operation showed Dawkins giving envelopes filled with money to assistant coaches from Creighton and Las Vegas schools in 2017. There was no evidence to support the so-called coaches eventually returned the money.

Dawkins and amateur basketball coach Merl Code pleaded not guilty of bribery.

The closing arguments of the defense are set for Monday.
