The mastodon "Jeopardy!" Continue!

James Holzhauer took his 22nd consecutive win on Friday night, coming off the stage with $ 82,381. This brings his total total to $ 1,691,008.

Although the episodes are recorded in advance, America will not be able to see the 34-year-old knock out more competitors before May 20.

Over the next two weeks, the Teachers' Tournament – in which 15 educators will compete for $ 100,000 – will be broadcast. After that, the show resumes regular programming.

Thursday night, with its 21st success, the professional Las Vegas player clinched the title of the second-longest series of victories in the history of the game show.

Holzhauer still has dozens of games to go before defying Ken Jennings' 74-game series, set 15 years ago.

He defeated Julia Collins, with 20 games in 2014, in third place.

An expert in sports betting, Holzhauer marveled the previous champions with his fast play style and big bets at the Daily Doubles and Final Jeopardy.

His success has helped to better understand his own past and the antics of the series. Holzhauer, who once dreamed of using his quantitative skills to work for a baseball team, told a Pennsylvania college newspaper that the language of long-time host Alex Trebek was getting too cold. Also this week, Trebek spoke about his fight against stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
